Melissa McGhie Proctor

Melissa McGhie Proctor joined the Atlanta Hawks in June of 2014 and is the Chief Marketing Officer for the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club and State Farm Arena. In this role, she oversees the day-to-day operations of marketing teams, including marketing integration and direct response, digital content and advertising and promotions. Proctor began her career with the Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., serving in senior brand development and strategy leadership positions for Turner Entertainment Networks. She has also been a part of the NBA since high school, being the first ball girl (team attendant) for the Miami Heat organization. Even though Melissa M. Proctor never played basketball, her dream as a child was to be the first female coach in the NBA. In From Ball Girl to CMO (Mynd Matters Publishing) readers will live through her trials and triumphs. Through incredible experiences (including surviving Hurricane Andrew), her unconventional path has taken a number of twists and turns leading up to her position of Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for the Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena. In From Ball Girl to CMO, Melissa shares lessons learned, guiding principles, and a means of comfort for those not quite sure what to do next. It urges us to reflect on where we’ve been and be open to the possibilities of what’s to come.
