Electronic Music Writing Workshop

November 19, 2020

weGuitars Over Guns mentor Starve Marve brings you into the studio and unveils the secrets of music production. Using free downloadable apps, this workshop focuses on electronic music production, writing songs using sampling/mashups. At the end of the workshop, a new song will be created and kids will have the tools to create songs on the app on their own.

Born in South Florida to Nigerian immigrant parents, Starve Marve is an exemplar of the first-generation American. Teacher by day, musician by night – and consistently torn between American and Afro cultures, Starve finds his only balance in the sounds he creates. Greatly encouraged by the individuality of Outkast, Marve traverses cross-genre territory influenced by road trips with his DJ father’s collection of Bob Marley & Fela Kuti, the Boom Bap 90’s he grew up within, and the 8O8s that have taken over. Marve currently mentors students at North Miami Senior High, where he teaches production.
