Journalist and writer Leonard Pitts Jr. – winner of the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for commentary – is the author of four novels: The Last Thing You Surrender: A Novel (Bolden Books), Grant Park: A Novel (Agate Bolden), Freeman: A Novel (Agate Bolden), and Before I Forget: A Novel (Agate Bolden). He has also written two nonfiction books, including Racism in America: Cultural Codes and Color Lines in the 21st Century. Once a music journalist, Pitts is a nationally syndicated columnist for the Miami Herald.
